Addon Main Features

This addon brings to your game a whole new experience, with its main gameplay loop revolving around thirst, temperature and stamina. Some of the new vital meters are enabled by default but you can also toggle oxygen for example which will make the game even more challenging.

Thirst & Hydration

The thirst bar is located directly above your hunger bar. It drains naturally over time and depletes faster during demanding actions such as sprinting, jumping, or being in arid environments.

If your thirst bar empties completely, you will receive severe slowness and begin taking fatal dehydration damage.

Drinking wild untreated water directly from rivers will quench thirst, but risks parasite infection and poison due to water toxicity. Water must be boiled, filtered, or collected via rainwater to be safely consumed.

Dynamic Body Temperature

Your body temperature is represented by a meter above your experience bar (new spawns get 5 minutes of grace immunity).

When the meter turns gray, your temperature is balanced. Shifting toward blue indicates hypothermia (freezing to death in icy biomes/water), while shifting toward red means hyperthermia (overheating in deserts and the Nether).

Protect yourself by crafting specialized gear (Winter Armor for cold, Volcano Armor for heat), drinking resistance potions, standing near campfires/cooling coils, or consuming ice cubes.

Stamina

Stamina is an optional, highly customizable mechanic enabled via the settings menu.

When enabled, performing strenuous activities rapidly empties your stamina bar. Low stamina significantly hinders your movement and will eventually cause physical collapse and damage over time if not rested.

Oxygen

oxygen is an optional, highly customizable mechanic enabled via the settings menu.

When enabled, performing strenuous activities rapidly empties your oxygen bar. Low oxygen significantly hinders your movement and will eventually cause physical collapse and damage over time if not rested.

Survival Equipment & Crafting

Surviving the harsh elements requires crafting custom tools, purifiers, and climate-control blocks.

Winter Fur

The winter fur is a drop from polar bears.

Compatibility

Important requirements to run Tough as Bedrock properly in your world:

Compatibility Guidelines

Enable Experimental Gameplay: Both 'Beta APIs' and custom experiments must be enabled in world settings.

Behavior & Resource Packs: Ensure both the Behavior Pack and Resource Pack are activated.

player.json: If using other mods that edit player.json, place them ABOVE Tough as Bedrock in the priority list and run '/function start' upon entering the world.

player.entity.json: The custom HUD requires player.entity.json to render the UI bars, making it incompatible with custom player 3D animation mods.

Player.json

Player.json is a minecraft file that contains parts of the player code (behavior). By modifying this file, add-on creators gain access to otherwise unavailable functionalities. But this file can only be modified by one addon on each world, that's why it has compatibility issues. If you're using an addon on your world that uses player.json, put it above tough as bedrock, you won't lose much and the addon will still work. If player.json is unavaible (for example you have an other addon that uses it) you will just need to start the addon manually by using /function start, and the ice resistance effect will not make you immune to snow powder but the rest of the addon will work as normal.

To play with this addon if you have other addons that use player.json, you need to add it to your world, then when you entered the world, use the "/function start" command.

Player.entity.json

Player.entity.json is a minecraft file that contains parts of the player code (resource). By modifying this file, add-on creators gain access to otherwise unavailable functionalities. But this file can only be modified by one addon on each world, that's why it has compatibility issues. If you're using an addon on your world that uses player.entity.json, it will be incompatible with tough as bedrock. I can't find a work around like I did with player.json, the player.entity.json file is mandatory to have the custom bars. This file is often used by addons that modify the player model/animations or addons that have custom 3D items.
